Stephanie Allain Makes History

How to Have Fun Again

Happy Friday, everyone!

Recently, I've been thinking a lot about joy and how to create space for play in my life. The universe (aka algorithms) must have been listening as it recommended this New York Times article aptly titled "How to Have Fun Again."

With the hustle and bustle of the world, and the never ending rollercoaster that is the entertainment business, a decade can pass in blink of an eye. It's easy to be so career focused that we can forget about nurturing other parts of our lives, of ourselves, which ironically, only help strengthen the work.

When was the last time you day dreamed? Rolled down a hill? Stared at puffy clouds? Built sand castles? I honestly struggled to remember a time when I had fun that wasn't somehow tethered to work.

So, as things slow down a bit, this is my focus for the remainder of the year. How are you creating space in your life for fun and play?Speaking of fun! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for my upcoming chat with Barbara Whitman, Producer of the Tony Award Winning Broadway musical, A Strange Loop.

Episode drops on Tuesday Oct 18th!

Also, thank you to everyone who emailed, DM'ed and texted in support of creating a Patreon to help keep the show going. Details coming soon. I count myself oh so lucky to be able to support you and also have this community to lean on!And hey, thanks for doing this life thing with me...

HIGHLIGHT EPISODE

Throwing it back to my chat with producer extraordinaire, Stephanie Allain in celebration of this history making announcement:

Producers Guild of America elected it's first woman of color as presidentSure, it took them 72 years, but hey, progress!Stephanie is an OG of the “true badass bitch era of Hollywood” power suits and all. We recorded live from her couch back in 2019 when the show was still called Life with Caca.  Many many gems in this episode, especially the importance of tooting your own horn sometimes.
