SOME GIRLS Producer Jennifer Glynn

On knowing your financial worth, the networking grind, and loyalty in Hollywood.

"Basically, the producer does everything. From getting the project off the ground to finishing it. I mean, I get emails about movies I made 10 years ago still today. Like, I’m the one that is the representative for the film forever.” - Jennifer Glynn

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Is your week off to a good start? I hope so! Very excited to share my chat with film and commercial producer Jennifer Glynn with you this week.

This particularly conversation was recorded in October of 2018, when I first embarked on this podcast journey, so you may notice that I was still finding my footing and learning to not talk over my guests. Quite rough to hear, y'all, but such is life with caca. Gotta show you the progress!

Oh, we also spoke for almost an hour off mic before I started rolling and thus I ran out of time. Another valuable lesson learned.

Jennifer has produced and line produced multiple award-winning films, including one of my favorites, SOUND OF MY VOICE written by and starring my girl crush, Brit Marling. We gush over how Brit was destined for greatness.

She also co-produced Neil LaBute’s SOME GIRLS starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell which premiered at the 2013 SXSW Festival. She also produced BURN COUNTRY starring Dominic Rains, Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo, and James Franco.

Jennifer has also produced a number of commercials, music videos, short films and digital campaigns. We compare the pros and cons of short form vs long form content, and she reveals why she prefers commercials.

A practical nuts and bolts producer, she explains why the UPM and line producer roles are often confused on smaller projects.

We explore finding and owning your financial worth in the marketplace, feeling stuck and the lack of loyalty that sometimes exists in Hollywood.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this week’s episode!
