Barbara Muschietti Part 2

On making yourself indispensable, what terrifies her, and why taking breaks is crucial!

"...and Guillermo [del Toro]. I remember that the weekend that MAMA opened and it was #1 in the U.S., Guillermo told us...well guys, now you get to make one more movie. Because it's one movie at a time, you know!" ⁣  -Barbara Muschietti

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Baackkk this week with the incredibly funny, terrifyingly humble, and insanely talented producer Barbara Muschietti. It's ironic timing because in part 2, we dive deep into the transition from ⁣⁣making big, high concept comedy commercials with her brother Andy, to her first feature film MAMA.

The 2013 hit starred Jessica Chastain and had Guillermo del Toro as the executive producer. When it opened #1 in the US that year, Guillermo told them that now, they get to make another movie...because a career is built one movie at a time. And they did. The first IT shattered records in 2017.

And well, IT: CHAPTER 2 floated into the #1 spot in the box office this past weekend, earning the second best global opening for a horror film of all-time with $185M. Just behind the first IT movie.

Tune in and hear us discuss the importance of making yourself indispensable, what terrifies her, and why taking breaks is crucial.
