Producer of THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE Rachel Shane

Tackling Insomnia and Are Indie Films Dead?

Happy Friday, Peeps!

Hope everyone is ramping up to a relaxing three day holiday weekend. I certainly am.

Last weekend, I treated myself to a romantic date at my first  theater show since March 2020. How I missed the energy of live performance! If you are in Los Angeles, I highly recommend checking out Bryan Cranston and the remarkable cast in Power of Sale at the Geffen

The show brilliantly tackles questions of race, of privilege, of power, of the proper response to evil, of inexplicable cultural and personal blindness. It's a beautifully layered show that has left me processing it for days. Speaking of in person experiences, many (including myself) were frustrated by Sundance's pivot to all virtual film festival mere weeks before the start date.

It raises many questions on the future of festival culture. In reflecting on this, I stumbled upon a LA times piece that contemplates, "Are Indie Films Dead?"Alas! I'm gearing up to record some exciting new episodes for y'all, but would love YOUR input.

Who should I invite next? What producers do you want to hear from? Whose journey are you dying to know more about?  Reply here and let me know.

Have a very lovely President's Day weekend!

LEARN

A small study out of Great Britain confirms that being forced to go slower has caused many to reconsider their values.

"22% described feeling a greater appreciation for life, involving the re-assessment of their personal values and priorities and the opportunity to 'reconsider what's really important'."  How we hold onto this awareness and plant seeds for a new normal is what I'm contemplating.
